Think the philosophy of Ideas for bunnies on Cage & Free Roam can basically be covered under my earlier post on Ideas for bunnies Facebook page on 14th Jun 2016:

My buns were never free roaming… they stays inside their enclosure whenever I’m out of the house… this is because i do not want anything bad to happen to them when I’m not around… but they will be out running around in my room whenever I’m home…

However, they are not able to free roam in my whole house because I’m staying with my parents… and last few years my sis family moved in and stayed with us after selling their house and waited 5 years for their new house…….. they moved to their new house last year…

When I adopted my first bunny Notti in 2009, he came with a cage and was kept there for a few months… My second adopted bunny Bion came in a cage too in 2010… and both were kept in cages for a few months until i sterilized and build a bunny condo for them… At that time there were 7 active fish tanks inside my room, if the owner insisted playpen setup or free roaming as the condition for adoption, think i will not even starts keeping bunnies…. I did bring both buns downstairs to run on the grass field thou to compensate on their lack of running space…

In 2011, when i decided to adopt my third bunny, I actually intended to adopt from a rabbit rescue group, end up they have issues with me bringing my bunnies to the grass area… keeps trying to get someone to talk to me on this, so finally I decided to adopt Cookie from a individual rescuer instead… think quite a few members here will still remember this…

Eventually, I started Ideas for bunnies in March 2012… because I felt that too many bunny parents are being judged and told off because they do not follows the standards of bunny keeping as formulated by some bunny groups…

Many new bunny parents ended up being mobbed by fellow members when they posted photos of their newly bought bunny with their newly bought cage… Some of them ended up removing their post and left the group, and then struggled to care for their buns without proper knowledge and guidance on bunny care… Many of their babies passed away soon after…..

This is the reason why we keep stressing on Positive Influence instead of telling off bunny parents on what they should not be doing… If you think you have a good way of caring for your bunnies, share with the group, and fellow bunny parents will try to adapt the good practice into their situation… However, do be aware that not every method is suitable for everyone, as we all have different constraints and difficulties in life…

Someone told me this before:

“Extreme love without limitations is very dangerous!”

I hope this will never become the culture of Ideas for bunnies… We are here to share our love and knowledge for the bunnies with fellow bunny lovers, not imposing our belief on them…… Let’s keep this a peaceful loving place so that we can help and support each other to provide better care for our bunnies…. Cheers!
